THPRD Invites Community to Join Bond Task Force

Love your local parks? Help shape the future of THPRD and join the Bond Task Force!
THPRD is exploring the possibility of renewing the 2008 bond measure that will retire in 2026, which provided funding for park and natural area improvements, land acquisition, trail construction, and facility remodels. While it was originally passed as a 20-year bond, the district was able to refinance the debt, saving taxpayers about $5.6 million in debt service.
As a result of the refinancing, the bond payments will be retired early. The potential bond measure under consideration is intended to be structured for a similar amount, so for taxpayers it would be a continuation of a similar rate we pay today, and not more. The goal is to have it come in at or below the current level.
As we consider what a replacement bond measure could include, we’re inviting community members to help determine what’s next.
THPRD is forming a Bond Task Force to explore community needs, priorities, and possible funding rates. Task force members will make recommendations to the district’s board of directors to help guide future investments. This is a great opportunity to help shape the next phase of THPRD.
What to Expect:
• Serve from August – November 2025
• Attend ~3 meetings in person
• Estimated total commitment: 8 hours
• Serve as community advisors
• Make recommendations on a potential bond replacement proposal
• Advise on amount of the bond and what types of improvements should be included
• Advise on communication and outreach strategies to inform the public about the bond
• Be compensated with a gift card to THPRD or local area store
How to Apply:
