Flood Remediation Effort Seeks Community Input

In an effort to address flooding impacts in the Cedar Mill Creek/North Johnson Creek area, THPRD and other partner agencies plan a self-guided tour for affected residents on Thursday, May 10, from 3-7 pm.

Project team technical members will be available at five stations along the tour – including one at THPRD’s Commonwealth Lake and another at the district’s Tualatin Hills Nature Park – to review initial strategies and answer questions. Visiting at least three stations will prepare residents to review and comment on proposed remediation concepts.

Human activity and rain patterns have resulted in more flooding of homes, business, parks and roads within the Cedar Mill Creek and North Johnson Creek watersheds. The Cedar Mill Creek Flood Remediation Collaborative, a partnership of Washington County agencies, businesses and other organizations, seeks to address flooding risks and provide high-quality natural habitat.
