The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has introduced payment tokens as a secure, convenient way to make in-person or telephone payments.
Tokens allow patrons to safely load credit card information to their THPRD account and store it through a secure, third-party processor. After choosing a four-digit personal identification number (PIN), users can pay for classes, drop-in activities, tuition and more without disclosing any personal payment information.
The token option does not work with online payments at this time.
Tokens allow THPRD to take secure payments over the phone. Previously, patrons who registered by phone had 48 hours to pay in person or online. Tokens also let patrons who forgot their wallet to pay in person with their four-digit PIN.
“Payment tokens are a safe and secure alternative to storing credit card data,” explains Clint Bollinger, Information Services manager. “These tokens allow us to process payments quickly while ensuring that we keep our patrons’ sensitive payment card data secure.”
A pilot group began using the tokens in November 2017. The portal went live on April 25, meaning patrons can begin making token payments immediately. A one-minute instructional tutorial on how to sign up is available on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBbk9prDhzc
