On December 1, Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District will begin renovating two of the wood ramps at the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex skate park. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 22.
The original wood ramps, installed nearly 20 years ago, have been deteriorating due to age, weathering, and regular use. They will be rebuilt using concrete; the current park layout will remain unchanged.
Through public outreach efforts and extensive research, it was decided that transitioning to concrete ramps would be the best option for THPRD and its skate park users.
Improved safety at the park and a longer overall lifespan for these ramps are the main benefits the district is hoping to achieve by transitioning to concrete ramps.
Please expect sections of the skate park to be shut down in order for the renovations to be completed.
