We Who Imagine

Title: We Who Imagine

Artist: Adam Kuby: Portland, OR

Date: 2014

Media: Granite

Location: Greenway Park

Trees are the dominant and signature element of western Oregon and the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District. We Who Imagine is one of three sculptural compositions in Greenway park that bring attention to the slow but steady natural process of tree growth. These sculptures will change, grow, shift, heave and evolve over time as the trees reach maturity.

“We who imagine ourselves invincible we sleep and plan all the while branches grow, reaching into our windows and all of us, now under the ground while even yet, a tendril of green rests waiting in soil soft as water.”
Poem by Bonnie Minden Ward.

How do you think the stones and trees will change over time?

This is one of three installations at Greenway Park.  Search the park for Crows Startle and Outnumbered.

About Nature Revealed: Discovering Nature Through Art

From the small and often unnoticed to the vast, open landscapes and big flora at THPRD, Nature Revealed: Discovering Nature through Art introduces visitors to the ongoing changes taking place in nature every day. Nature Revealed: Discovering Nature through Art was funded through the 2008 Bond Measure and consists of installations in five different THPRD parks. Look for the installation closest to where you live.
